Chapter 6

To Benji’s enormous relief, the following morning—or at least what he thought of as morning—he recognized the tentacles softly rubbing his back and curling near his chin as Kitty’s before he even opened his eyes. Her motions were gentle and far more subdued than usual. She wanted to comfort him and knew why he might need it.

Just knowing that she wanted to help brought grateful tears to his eyes. He’d never had a friend like Kitty. At the RefCom, it was as if everyone was too exhausted by the struggle to survive to show this kind open affection. Maybe people died too easily for anyone to afford it. Benji didn’t want to blame them. He’d been the same way without even knowing it. It was only meeting Kitty, someone who was totally generous with her love, that made him see it. It did something to his heart that she trusted him not to be angry or lash out at her, something else he’d seen far too much of at the RefCom.

Over the following days, Benji fell into a routine. He’d wake with Kitty curling against him, and spend what he thought of as his daytime hours playing and hanging out with her. Then after the second meal, a black tentacle would suddenly snap around his throat and push into his mouth never failing to catch him by surprise. Benji would have a second to drop to his knees and place his hands behind his back, and God forbid he failed, because Black was ruthless punishing mistakes he’d corrected more than once.

Black was always strict, always demanded total obedience. Each night he would show Benji a new position or a new way of submitting that he would then expect Benji to do without prompting the following night. Any errors or hesitations were always met by the same sharp strikes to his ass. Black never slacked off a moment from his demands, never let Benji get away with the slightest disobedience, but he also never tricked him or pushed Benji beyond his physical ability to obey.

Just as it was impossible to imagine Kitty ever doing anything cruel, it was impossible to imagine Black ever being contradictory or unfair. Unlike every human Benji had ever known, Black was never unpredictable. Everything he did seemed designed to teach Benji to trust him absolutely.

And Benji learned that lesson. In truth, he was unspeakably grateful for both Kitty and Black’s sheer consistency. He desperately needed those touchstones to cope with Silver.

Two days and two visits later, Benji finally forced himself to give up hope that the first visit from Silver was just an anomaly. The sadistic creature would be as much a part of Benji’s life here as Kitty or Black. He reminded himself over and over that Silver never actually injured him. In fact, both nights he’d made Benji climax over and over again until orgasm became pure misery. It was horrible, but he wouldn’t call it physically painful, at least compared to one of Black’s punishments.
